About Dr. Elissa Brown

Dr. Elissa F. Brown has been working on behalf of gifted children and their families, educators, and communities for over 30 years! She has been a teacher, principal of a specialized high school, school district gifted coordinator, director of gifted education for a state department of education, and professor for teacher certification in gifted education. She is currently at Binghamton University, previously at Hunter College-CUNY and adjuncts at Rutgers University. More importantly, she’s a mother to 3 grown successful gifted young adults.

In her role with GiftedNYS, she has served as Co-President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee. She publishes and presents widely on topics in gifted education such as curriculum differentiation, social-emotional development, program evaluation and teacher preparation.
